thanks so much... to Unity Stamps

Today's Card

So, it seems pretty appropriate that I would have a patriotic card to share with you today.  :)

As you can see, I used the same basic layout as with yesterday's cards. While I love this Bo Bunny collection, I've struggled with ways to use this particular paper. It seems to work well with this layout.

A Tribute Fit for a Hero

Hi, everybody!

Boy, what a gorgeous day here. Perfect for a long walk and some reading out on the front porch!

Today's Any Hero card was inspired by OWH Sketch #219. The inspiration for the sketch was one of Kathryn's cards. Kathryn is one of my favorite card makers and it was great seeing one of her creations featured today. :)

When I decided on the starburst/ray paper, I felt this paper needed to be at the bottom. Then, I thought the circle element should be on the left so as to not cover up the blue design on the right of the paper. While the basic elements are the same, I've taken a little poetic license with their placements. The only thing I would change is to move the three brads a little closer to the right edge of the bottom paper. But, that paper is not going anywhere now.  :)

 

Parting Thoughts

Short and sweet today... the sun is calling my name. And a good friend is celebrating her birthday. So, a phone call is in order.  And, yes, there are Father's Day cards to make.  :)

Thank You for Your Service

Today's Any Hero card was inspired by Operation Write Home Sketch #208.

I originally wasn't sure about the sketch. Don't get me wrong -- I loved Heather's sample card, but I wasn't quite sure where this one would take me.

I ended up going with a pretty basic card -- no burlap, no embossing, no distressing. Used one of my favorite packs of designer paper and some rich cardstock. This card is also unusual because of the sentiment treatment. I often mat -- even double or triple mat -- sentiments to bring more attention to them. But, somehow, a plain white banner felt right for this card. Nothing fancy, just right.  :)

One last reminder that the final day to submit cards for the very first W2SB challenge is Tuesday. Thanks to everyone for your support of this new monthly challenge blog.

Hope all the NFL fans out there enjoy today's games. My team's been back to 0-0 since the end of the regular season. But, these games sound like two great match-ups.
