NBUS Challenge #2

Hi, everyone!

So, what's NBUS, you ask? Well, it's an acronym coined by the amazing Darnell Knauss, who blogs at djkardkreations, that stands for Never-Before-Used-Schtuff. Not only is Darnell a fabulous card maker, she is a super sweet lady who has nurtured a wonderful community of card makers. It goes without saying that Darnell has been a huge supporter of Words 2 Scrap By -- joining us as a Guest I-Teamer... and leaving the very first comment for our very first post.

So, it is with great pleasure that I'm playing along with Darnell's second NBUS challenge.  :)

NBUS: Stampin' Up! Too Kind stamp set
Fancy Pants Design etcetera; Bazzill black; Crate Paper rose garden
SU Too Kind flower stamps and TPC Studio sentiment in StazOn jet black
Paper Studio tiny brads, SU neutral brad

I wanted to create a classic palette -- making a card for OWH that could be sent by a man or woman to a female loved one at any time or season. So, I stamped the flowers using a first/second generation technique to create a black and gray silhouetted image.  On the inside, I stamped a third-generation silhouette image in the lower left corner. I went with a Miss You sentiment because it is the most commonly requested card by our troops.

Parting Thoughts

September words:
To every thing there is a season.
In case you haven't heard, we have a FABULOUS prize for this month's Words 2 Scrap By challenge -- an autographed Tim Holtz assemblage clock. Tim was so kind to sign our clock during the Simon Says CREATE event in May. Believe me, it's been tough to keep this special prize under wraps -- and it's even tougher to give it away! We sure hope you have a chance to play along with our September challenge. Cards/Projects can be linked up until September 21.

Hoping to work on some masculine birthday cards for OWH this week. And, Looking forward to seeing lots of entries for Darnell's NBUS Challenge #2.

Thanks for stopping and happy scrappin'!

  1. Now who's the sweetest? Thank you so much for promoting and playing in my second NBUS Challenge, Sybrina! I think your card meets all the criteria for a wonderful missing you card that can be sent or received by either a man or a woman! It's absolutely poignant and I love it!!

What do you think about going over to vintagejourney.com and playing in their challenge and then in your post you can again mention W2SB and your prize? I'm just not sure if all of the people who play there would already have their own autographed clock, but it's worth a shot, and they may know others who don't have it. I'd love to see you spread the word around Blogland even more, but unfortunately, I don't know of any other challenges that emphasize Tim. I haven't googled it though. It really is a fabulous prize for TH fans!!

Thanks again! Have a wonderful week!! Hugs, Darnell
