OWH Sketch #238: Seems Like Forever....

... since I've made an Any Hero card. So, it was so nice to see that Marlene had posted a new sketch for us OWHers.  :)

Authentique pride; Bazzill admiral and watermelon; Distress Ink antique linen
Unity sentiment in DI vintage photo on Crate Paper rose garden
TPC Studio sentiment in Zing copper embossing on Crate Paper rose garden
antiquing in DI vintage photo and chipped sapphire
punches: Paper Studio star, ??? corner rounder for tiny embellishments
Sizzix embossing folder
adhesives: Zig glue pen, Recollections foam squares

I really liked today's sketch, but was surprised how long it took me to put this card together. In the end, I think the struggle was worth it. I'm pretty pleased with the way this turned out -- and especially like the little snippet in the bottom left of the larger sentiment rectangle, which is the throw-away piece from the corner rounder.  :)

Parting Thoughts

The collection closes
on October 21!
Hoping to play with the SU Festival of Trees bundle this week. But, headed out of town with my dad to visit some family. So, we'll see how much card making actually gets done.

A quick reminder about this month's Words 2 Scrap By paw-print-inspired challenge. Two of Sandy's Ciara's Friends stamp sets -- along with some Sandy-colored images -- will be awarded to the winning card/project.  Hope you will join us!

Thanks for stopping and happy scrappin'!

  3. I love how you added the distress ink in a subtle way. I always seem to go too heavy. Also, does the zig glue pen really work?

    1. Hi, Alicia.

Thanks so much for the kind words.

Wanted to reply to your Zig pen question. I'm not sure about the changing color part and how that affects the glue. I primarily use it -- or Glossy Accents -- for adhering itsy bitsy pieces of paper that my ATG adhesive can't get to.

  4. I love the vintage feel of this patriotic card with all the distressing and colors! I especially like the star accent - it looks like antique brass! Well done!
