These are the words for our April Words 2 Scrap By challenge, which inspired the card below. They seem pretty appropriate for a month that celebrates Earth Day and Arbor Day. :)
- It may not show up well in the photo, the bottom dark gray strip is pleated. Combined with the vertical stripes added to the gold paper, I like the overall effect achieved.
- The twine was added for two reasons: 1) to help keep the pleats in place, 2) to add additional texture, and 3) to bring the "golden" color to the bottom of the card.
- The word strips were inspired by Tim's chit chat stickers. But, I couldn't find "note" in my chit chat stickers. So, I printed these myself on the gold paper. (And, I only had one small piece of paper to use... and was thrilled when it actually turned out okay!)
- At first, I didn't have any paper behind on my chit-chat-inspired words. But, I didn't feel they had a strong enough presence. So, I adhered them to black cardstock. Then they had too strong of a presence. Finally, I added the dark gray cardstock and, as Goldilocks would say, they felt just right. :)

Thanks for stopping and happy scrappin'!
Very nice card, Sybrina. The bottom pleated treatment is very nice addition. I also think the black backing up the sentiment words was a great idea. It really brings them out nicely. Have a nice evening.
ReplyDeleteGreat card, Sybrina! Love the pleats and twine ~ just right 👍~ Annie
ReplyDeleteOh my word....where to start with this gorgeous creation. Love, love, love the pleats. Unique way to add texture with the twine. (expect to see this on one of my cards in the future). Love the background...wondering if you distressed it yourself or it came that way? The tiny cut out words are so perfect for this card (again, something I will CAS in the near future). Just wowzers on your creation!!!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely beautiful card, Sybrina! I love the pleated piece with the twine & adding the gray to the words was the perfect choice! Wonderful creation!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great card done in earth tones to match the earth's music! Love the pleated border along the bottom!
ReplyDeleteYour card is so beautiful! I love that you did it in earth tones and did not cover it with tons of embellishments. This way the cute little birdie and those beautiful butterflies really stand out. Amazing work!
ReplyDeleteHappy Easter!
Hugs! xx
The pleats are a perfect way to tie in the gold stripes - great job! Love your takae on the challenge.
