A Patriotic Thanks

Hi, everyone.

Today's Any Hero card is inspired by OWH Sketch #234.

Bo Bunny Liberty; Distress Ink antique linen; Bazzill admiral and watermelon
TPC Studio sentiment on Crate Paper rose garden, heat embossed in DI walnut stain
Stampin' Up! banner die; Fiskars and Paper Studio star punches; Cuttlebug embossing folder
??? corner punch for tiny stars: Creative Memories circle cutting system
garage sale brads: Paper Smooches twine
adhesives: Glossy Accents, Recollection foam adhesive squares

Ellen's sample card is so darn cute. But, I tend to freak a little when working with more involved sketches. So, I started inside out -- designing the sentiment, banner, and circle pieces first. Then I chose solid cardstock for most of the rest of the card -- embossing the red background piece and only using one piece of patterned paper. And, I'm actually pretty pleased with the results.  :)

A couple of points worth noting. Since this is an Any Hero card, I used two layers of foam adhesive for the banner portion, with the circle/star element having a single layer of foam adhesive. After placing the banner and circle elements, I felt like the card was a little left-side heavy. After taking another look at the sketch, I realized I had placed the banner a little more left then intended. So,  I added the three tiny blue stars to the bottom right.

Parting Thoughts

July words: Oh La La
My dad's coming over to watch the end of the Open Championship and grill out some hot dogs for lunch. (Hubby's dad is having dinner with friends in town from Chicago.) Looking forward to a good visit. Then, hope to box up some cards to send to Sandy later this afternoon.  :)

If you're interested in playing along with us at Words 2 Scrap By, the deadline to link up a card for our July challenge is tomorrow. Would love for our OWH friends to join us.  :)

Enjoy the rest of your weekend and have a great week. Thanks for stopping and happy scrappin'!
